If u pass the academy u go to ur facility and start to train in air traffic. Not to scare u but the first 3 classes this year failed at 100%, most recent class only 3/12 ppl passed. The pass rate for the academy is extremely low. Study hard, don't party and get with classmates outside class. Depending if u get terminal or en route, I'll be here for 3 months or 6 months. After all that, if you get the go ahead, they set u up at the faa academy in Oklahoma City. If u happen to pass the at-sat, there's the psych test and background check. I hope u have patience Bc the faa takes their sweet time with everything and will make u follow their timeline. Next step is at-sat test, I ordered a boom from amazon that came with a program that simulated the test. They communicate via email so make sure u provide a email that u check frequently. Follow up after u turn everything in once u get the green light for the next step. Faa is horrible and takes forever to get anything done. When I first applied it took about a year to get a Tol (temporary offer letter). No college and Im now cpc (fully certified) as a controller. I was an "off the street hire" with no aviation experience.
